Flickr Widget for WiserEarth Groups
Problem: Although you can embed specific pictures from Flickr using the TinyMCE toolbox, you can't access dynamically your personal or organizational Flickr photos in a slideshow.
Solution: Create a new Group module which allows you to input specific source parameters for your Flickr feed. Here are eight alternative approaches that we might be able to use, not sure which are open source. This would get around the WiserEarth technical team having to create new code / store data and would leverage existing personal or organizational resources that may already exist.
How I can help: Happy to test out the module.

@ Leland: As for Powerpoints and Videos on Flickr - I'm not sure. Powerpoints can always be converted into jpgs so presumably it is possible (minus animations and embedded audio / video) to upload it to Flickr. As for videos, they could be uploaded to YouTube and shared by embedding in a wikipage, or down the road in the YouTube channel widget which I suggested - assuming people are interested in it.

Thanks Angus for your speedy response to my question. I have several already configured Power Point Slide Show Productions that I tried to install into my hi5 sharing site, but was unable to upload to that site. They did allow me a way to create a new slide show on the site using my own jpg art, but the impact was deminished without my original text wording. Would It be possable to upload a PRE-EXISTING PP slide production on to my WE site, utilizing the Flickr Widget offered? Also would it be possable to offer videos at my WE site using this Flickr Widget. Thank you Angus,your computer illiterate friend in L.V.,Nv. Leland

Thanks again for the update info WE TEAM. Would you recommend subscribing to #1 "kuanhoong dot com" #2 E-mail updates or #3 Subscribe to feed, from the 8aa page? I would love to have access to Flickr Widget on my site. Would I be able to share a pre-designed PowerPoint slide show, or would I be required to lay out the slide show from the flickr site? I'm still a little computer dumb, so please advise me if you would. Thank you sincerely WE TEAM.

Enabling people and organizations to leverage what they already have is good. Adds another incentive to use WE groups for their needs. |
