Food System Portal

Edit this Page

Welcome to the California Food System Portal!

A food system defines how our food moves from our gardens and farms to our tables. This multi-stakeholder food system portal is an evolving representation of the food system on WiserEarth. It connects people, organizations, resources, projects, events, news and jobs in various food system sectors, across geographies, generations, nations, cultures and ethnicities.

Roots of Change Wheel
This visual representation of food systems depicts the interdependent and connected nature of the many elements linked to food systems. Each component of the wheel represents a key sector that is linked to a common root - our food system. Click your way around the Food Wheel to find related WiserEarth areas of focus. For the individual symptoms of each sector to be addressed, the food system as a whole must be considered. Similarly, a systemic transition to sustainable food systems would address multiple sectors simultaneously.
