July 26 Community Meeting - Thoughts

Edit this Page
The first community meeting was a great beginning.  Several of us met for the first time and some renewed previous acquaintances.  There is a lot of energy and desire to get started reaching out to our niches of the community to build awareness of the urgency to make changes in our personal choices and behavior.

The City and consultants are now busy drafting the Cllmate Action Plan based on our input, but that will take several months.  Several of us expressed interest in doing something right away.  We each undoubtedly have different visions, interests, objectives, expectations, etc.  And we hardly know each other

The purpose of this wiki page is to express our interests and to meet others with common interests in order to facilitate our independent discussion, activities, and community organization around particular issues of our choosing.

Please post a "COMMENT" describing your interests for discussion topics.  Others are welcome to respond to prior posts, as well as describing their interests.  Additional pages will be created for specific interests and will be linked from and to this page.

This is an experiment, so don't feel constrained in any way.   Let's figure out what we can do collectively.

For the earth,
Doug

Thank you, Doug, for setting up this website forum. It is a great foundation for the exchange of ideas and call to action.
I am thrilled to have met other like-minded individuals at the city council community meeting on Saturday, July 26.  It is great to see the vision Hayward has for it's Climate Action Plan, and I look forward to being a part of it.
Of particular interest to me is (1) solar power for both residential and commercial use, and (2) community outreach & education.
I would like to meet with others to learn more about solar power offerings in the market today and craft a compelling message for different target groups best suited to benefit from solar so we can advocate for it's use on a more widespread scale.
I would also like to spread the word within my neighborhood and church parish that the City of Hayward is in the planning stages to define the targets for its Climate Action Plan so we can get more community involvement.

Regards,

Deborah
