Guidelines for participating in The Big One FREE Three Day Convergence:
Guidelines for participating in The Big One FREE Two Day Convergence:
We ask that the organizations or individuals participate in THREE ways ...
(you do not need to be a non-profit to participate)
1) Non profits go on line to Wiserearth and "Self Select" 1 of the 8 “Solution Neighborhoods" that they identify with and fill out the on line registration form.
-8- Solution Neighborhoods
* (Please do not feel limited by the descriptions of each of the 8 Solutions Neighborhoods.
We encourage you to define it for yourself…add your definition)
· Sustainability: Climate Change, Resource Depletion, Urban Planning, Food- Water- Sewage Security… *
· Youth Engagement: leadership, education, eco-literacy… *
· Economy: Green Jobs Training and Development, Cooperative Purchasing, Collective Asset Management…*
· Social: culture, spirit, justice…*
· Health: nutrition, care, housing…*
· Food Justice: Slow Movement, CSA’s, Urban Farmers…*
· Peak Oil: Geo politics, economic, alternative fuels, impacts, transportation…*
· Permaculture Annual Convergence: *
2) Once you are registered with one of the 8 Solution Neighborhoods, then the collaboration begins!
Your Solution Neighborhood works collaboratively with the other registered members in your neighborhood to determine what will be represented and presented in your very large Solution Neighborhood Tent. There will be smaller tents that are located around each of the 8 large neighborhood tents. Each individual non profit will have their own small tent to represent their particular mission.
For example: Let’s say your organization registers with the “Sustainability Solution Neighborhood” and is most interested in “Climate Change” you will work collaboratively with other non-profits that are also registered with Sustainability but identify (for example) with “water catchment” or “grey water systems”. As a neighborhood member you will collectively decide what you want in your big Sustainability Neighborhood Tent. Your neighborhood will decide if you want speakers, entertainment, classes, hands-on demonstrations, interactive displays…there is no limit for what your neighborhood can do!
We encourage your neighborhood to creatively represent the many issues we face as a community when we talk about “Sustainability, Youth Engagement, Economy, Social, Health, Food Justice and Permaculture” (these are the names of the 8 Solutions Neighborhoods) We also encourage your neighborhood to show to the community solutions to our challenges and ways to engage in solution making. The non-profits are driving the “content / solutions” that will be shared with the community during the 3 day convergence.
All the collaboration can
be done on line. Neighborhood members can organize themselves for face to face
meetings if they prefer.
3) The non-profit’s participation during the two-day convergence must be solution oriented and interactive with the other participating non profits and the community who will be attending. (the organizations define what "solution oriented and interactive" means)
