To Do for 2009 Q1

This is an initial list of things to do for editors with each role. Please don't feel overwhelmed and see this as an overview of things that could help take WiserEarth to the next level. We will do this step by step as you have the time to help out with and as we have more editors helping out.

 

Please add things you see the need for.

 

All editors

- Collect high quality RSS feeds for WiserEarth upcoming News module. We hope to have at least 5 feeds for each Areas of Focus (one feed can be used by several AoF).

 

Directory Editor

- Prepare and launch the WS Sandbox group

- Edit most viewed organization profiles (list is in the work)

- Review Directory Content Standards

 

AoF Editor

- Create a more-or-less uniform layout for AoF portals. Edit AoF portals accordingly.

- Review WE AoF Editors group and WE AoF Suggestions group

 

Admin for Earth Charter Principle Group

- Prepare and launch two or three Earth Charter principle groups by end of February?

 

Moderator

- List interesting discussions around the site in a wikipage

- Review community guidelines and editorial policy related to community interaction

 

Networker

- Engage with people featured in WE homepage

- Engage with top contributors (posted on group's homepage)

- Engage with people who returned to the site recently (check here on "Registration date")

- Engage with new users who completed their profile

- List well-populated and active groups in a wikipage. Engage with admins of those groups.

 

Support

- Join (either or all) Help Desk , Group Support and Solutions Support. Review the group homepage and content

- Join inactive groups and contact admins to see if they need help with managing their groups

- Greet admins of newly created groups. Offer assistance in growing and managing their group.

- Answer questions and provide help

- Help out with creating a community training course (also see this suggestion article on similar topic)

 

Outreach

- Check spread the word page, replete and update as necessary. Do some of what's listed there.

- Set up and follow up to google alerts on "WiserEarth"

- Collect outreach (online and offline) best practices and summarize in a wikipage

 

Regional Coordinator

- Join and review WE Global Communities group

- Start a group for your region and invite community members from your region to join

 

Journalist

- Brainstorm what sort of newsletter should WE produce and how to distribute?

 

Mediator

- Research on ways to resolve conflict between community members.

- Help establish community procedures for conflict resolution.

 

Developer

- Join WE Suggestions group, review community suggestions and elaborate as needed

- Suggest ways to improve WE

- Respond to feedback request for features/improvements under development

 

Language Support

- Join and review WE in Different Languages group

- Identify key content to translate to then help translate.

- Find ways to facilitate cross-language communication
