Research Tool Improvements

Access Privileges

Access is currently restricted to the following group(s):
This is a constantly updated list of suggested improvements to research functionality on WiserEarth. Please add as you see fit.
----------------------------------

The "hosted by WiserEarth" and "Browse All Groups" links should perhaps be at the bottom of the page (like with Wordpress.com or Six Apart) or the right side, so that the top banner is more customizable (full customization would be nice, including colors and images/logos on the banner) so that organizations can link from their domains and further distinguish from Yahoo and Google groups (as well as Facebook).

You can send messages to multiple group members simultaneously, but there is no record of the messages you send. Sent messages should be included along with your received messages, so you can keep track of your correspondences.

Adding wiki markup, alongside the current html markup, would be extremely helpful. At the moment, it's difficult to easily add signatures with date and time (with wiki markup, you just type ~~~~ and it's automatically read by the wiki page and translated into your user name along with date and time), so it's not easy to let members know who edited what.

It may be challenging to get enough participants in a research group if you can't invite multiple users at the same time. Perhaps there could be a system that prevented people from spamming while still enabling them to contact users more easily.

Being able to add an extra message after someone has accepted an invitation to join a group would be helpful, in order to direct the person on what to do next.
