Viva La PAPA
September 4th 2008 - An Invitation for Practices Beyond Sustainability:
Our Permaculture network is rich and diverse and have a great number of solutions to the issues we, as a culture, now find ourselves facing. Many institutes are feeling the need to be better stewards as well as provide educational programs that demonstrate these practices. Our work as Permaculturlists supports these ends and
works in partnership to create demonstration sites of Permaculture so
that people can see how holistic Permaculture is and how it can be
applied in all climates at at any scale.
Currently we are working with a network Project of the Permaculture
Alliance of the Pacifica Region of North America, to provide services
to already established organizations and institutes in their transition
to a more regenerative model.
This first delegation of connections has commenced and been launched as of Septemeber 4th 2008. Some of the first work is establishing more solid bonds from Big Sur California to B.C. Canada. This winter from Big Sur to Baja
California. Some of these sites in California in which we are planning
on working with already include The Occidental Arts and Ecology Center,
Regenerative Design Institute, Quail Springs Learning Center, the
Esalen Institute, Emerald Earth, Polcum Springs, Solar Living
Institute, Mendocino Ecology Learning Center, Avalon Springs, Green
Valley Village, Heartwood, CCAT, and many many sustainable Localized
groups put into motion by the peak oil awareness ...In reaching out to
the our great web we hope to meet and gain more insight to the
bio-regional networks that are working in the Portland area with
City-repair and Mark Lakeman, The Seattle Contingent, and would hope to
make the connection with many in B.C. Canada
It is the hope to
find the networks and connections that already exist and see how the
work we are all doing can be more effective as a whole. By making
person to person connections this network begins to be grounded in the
humanistic qualities that we are promoting in the ways of being better
land stewards and creating a more regenerative landscape to dwell.
We would love to meet with you or your affiliates in the Permaculture
network that you have contributed to creating in your own bio-region.
We all have so much to learn and share with each other as the times
begin to shift it is demanding those of us holding the possible
solutions to step up to share and demonstrate what is possible.
Permaculture is what the masses are looking for. It is a design system
that goes beyond the buzz of sustainable and green and can truly have a
large and small scale impact on communities and governments.
It
is an exciting time for our movement as we feel the unrest and surge
these times both in the social cultural sector and in the environmental
situation we face. The change that our political leaders pose is one
for off shore drilling and one of ambiguous diversity. It is time that
we all step up and begin our advocacy for a more just sacred and
regenerative culture. It is only through a movement that has critical
mass that our voice will be heard. The network that we are suggesting
is one that already exists through many international organizations.
The main networks we are tapping into here are those that have formed
through The Permaculture Research Institute, The Bioneers, and SLOW
Food USA. Judgments can be made about each one of these groups and
others would voice their criticism, yet these prominent movements have
made a presence on the world stage and are open to collaborating and
working together at every scale. Those who hold key positions within
these organizations are strongly promoting a permaculture platform for
change.
For the work we all are doing.... keep it up and please forward this invitation on to any of your contacts you feel appropriate. Please add comments to this page as well and anyone who feel inspired to be apart of the network delgation, please contact me.
In unity and best practice

I would like to be involved on the documenting end of things. I am currently focusing on step by step guides by documenting demonstration sites, skills and mentors. Please let me know if there is a site to be documented, or has already been documented, so I can add it to the library.
