I wanted to tell you about a website called WiserEarth (www.wiserearth.org) because I thought it might be a powerful tool to help further your work. Both a networking forum and a community-editable directory, WiserEarth is designed to map and connect the hundreds of thousands of organizations and individuals working on environment, social justice and indigenous issues. It also provides the tools for the sharing of resources, building alliances and collaboration.
WiserEarth includes:
· An international directory of more than 100,000 organizations based in 243 countries, sovereign islands, and territories.
· The world's first detailed taxonomy of the areas of focus within sustainability and social justice (416 areas of focus ranging from climate change, water, poverty, hunger, social justice, conservation, human rights and more)
· A free platform to post or find resources, events, personal profiles, volunteer and job openings.
· Information that can be freely used, modified, and repurposed
From the beginning, WiserEarth has been a community-driven process. Many organizations and individuals have contributed content and vision towards the platform, which is growing every day.
