Hey everybody,
I tried to use the Google link to send them a better translation of one of the sites. Does anyone know how long it takes google to accept the translation? It did not occur on the specific page yet. Is there a faster way to transfer the text? Google does quite a good job in translating the single words but it is not really perfect with grammer.
Any ideas?

well, it is not a problem for me to translate more pages into German. I was just wondering why Google does not take my suggestions into account. The better translation still did not appear on the website and I wanted to know if anybody knows why.

how about babelfish? (not sure if it still works) ... GlobalVoices Online has a group of translators working for them.... I mentioned GV in our meeting the other day, Mike. Did you get a chance to see their project?

I'm not sure if there are better translation services out there. In order to get a near perfect translation, real people will have to do the translating. That might take a while to develop.

There's been a small group of volunteers translating basic WiserEarth materials, but not on a site-wide scale. I briefly browsed their site...I'm impressed by the way they've coordinated translation volunteers: http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/lingua
With a little thought, we could design a way to accept translations for every page on WE.
