Vision Communication

Edit this Page
Problem: the vision for wiserearth is not being consistently communicated!!  : check out the below link and see how that does not align with operating practices:

communication: nature of for profit inclusion was not directly communicated

respect: nature of for profit inclusion was not directly communicated

collaboration "" etc. = its a long list)

solution: utilize direct, honest, effective two-way communication skills when interacting with your community or users, specifically the active community...=

From : The TH Interview: Paul Hawken—Blessed Unrest (Part Two) 07.24.08

"And, of course, the thing that people have to understand is it's community-driven, it's community-owned, it's community, it's yours. And it's not like there's some corporation somewhere that says, ‘this is what you can do.’ It's not a curated wiki: it's a wiki. And that means that it's transparent, because you can't do anything unless you show up and put a profile up. It's not like a wiki that way, where you can't do things anonymously. It's all transparent. (jt=?really? than what about the decision to include for profits, allow them to pay? )

And then pretty soon we're going to launch WISER Business and WISER Philanthropy(jt=?really?where is this written is there some more information, i thought we just included business on wiserearth??).

WISER Philanthropy is so people can see where money is coming from and where it's going. Which we don't really know. And these are supposed to be public-trust institutions that don't pay taxes, because they're supposed to tell us everything about themselves, and everything is supposed to be public. But, of course, they're very private(like NCI? wiserearth? can you see how that comes across as double talk?).

And then WISER Business because business, particularly small business, is just, excuse my French, but just kickass in terms of what it's doing and innovation and how it's really taking up the true social responsibilities on that level."

---------------------------------

I liked the article... you can find the other part off the TH website ... and I am not going to waste my time picking the thing apart ... but I am just curious about how that aligns with what is happening on the site, who is responsible, what the real vision is here?  Maybe there was some misqouting?  I am interested in hearing from someone from NCI with regard to where this site is headed... will wiserbusiness and wiserphilanthropy be on this site? a different site?  that interview is recent.

I like to read this in the context of this qoute which ties into the process behind our recent for-profit inclusion:

"The problem with ideology is if you got an ideology, you already got your mind made up, you know all the answers, and that makes evidence irrelevant and argument a waste of time, so you tend to govern by assertion and attack. The problem with that is that discourages thinking and gives you bad results."

— Bill Clinton

and also from the NCI website;

"I maintain that truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or coerce people along a particular path."(fyi that includes nci/ 'partners')
