I'd like to suggest an addition for the Areas of Focus -- Voluntary Transition Strategies.

From my perspective, with the Conservation Council of Ontario in Canada, I've developed a simple model around building a united and voluntary conservation movement.  In and of itself it won't save the world, but it sure makes a lot of sense to build a united campaign around helping people who want to become better at living lightly on this planet.

Much of what I have developed within the environmental sector draws upon the progression that we have witnessed from other successful social movements (such as civil rights and feminism) where the movement undergoes a transformation from advocacy to integration once society generally accepts the new rights and values of that movement.  I can also see parallels with fair trade, eco-justice, and many of the other areas within Wiser Earth.

So, what I'd like to see in Wiser Earth is a sharing of transition strategies whereby we are each contributing as catalysts for a social or economic change that is already starting to occur.

Working together, can we make the world that much better, and that much faster.
