A Global Call To Action
9⁄11 - 10⁄10 2007

30 Days of Peace
www.30daysofpeace.org– under the auspices of the Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI) www.cultureofpeace.org - is a global networking Initiative that is tracking and raising awareness of Peacebuilding events and projects occurring throughout the world.

The first annual 30 Days of Peace begins on September 11th, 2007, the 101st anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s creation of the modern non-violence movement, and concludes on October 10th, the birthday of the late international journalist and musician Daniel Pearl. The central focus of 30 Days is the International Day of Peace (Peace Day), held annually on September 21st. Over the past 25 years, during Peace Day, a growing number of diverse Peace events and projects took place in thousands of locations, in almost every nation.

This year, 30 Days of Peace will take the first steps in quantifying and formalizing this global network of people, non-profit organizations, and companies, by creating an event database, and publicizing this crucial work via an online publicity and marketing campaign. By gathering and distributing information about peace events and organizations, 30 Days of Peace seeks to increase awareness of and ongoing participation in worldwide Peacebuilding work.

A prime example of Peacebuilding are the programs of The Daniel Pearl Foundation,
www.danielpearl.org, including their 6th Annual World Music Days, October 1 – 15, 2007, www.worldmusicdays.org.
