!What is a WikiPage?

Edit this Page

WikiPages are like blank sheets of paper...

  • WikiPages include text writing and formating tools just like a Word document.
  • Anyone can edit or contribute content to a WikiPage.
  • No knowledge of HTML or web programming is needed to create or edit a WikiPage.
  • You can also add images or links to videos.
  • They can be used when you want to add article to the WiserEarth website such as a page of research information or you want to add more information to your personal profile page.
  • Also......WikiPages are really good places to publish personal content.

What is good about WikiPages is the freedom and versatility of these pages. For example, there are no guidelines, no restrictions, and there's no pressure to keep them updated (unlike a blog).  You can also easily link to them by using the URL of the WikiPage shown in the address line of your browser.

How do I create or edit a WikiPage?

The 'Add a WikiPage' feature on the side bar enables you to create simple webpages (or articles) without needing to know any HTML. Just give your new page a name, type in some content and you've created a webpage! If you would like to do more complex formatting in html, visit the HTML: Help page.

If you'd like to share your knowledge about editing WikiPages, please feel free to edit this page.

How do I change fonts, add links or images?

At the top of each page, you have a toolbar that works in a similar way to Word. It has been designed to help you make quick and easy changes to the content of your WikiPage.

Click on B to have bold
Click on i to have italics
Click on Font Size to change Font size and so on....

Click on the icons again to turn these formats off.

To add a link to the page - click on one of the link icons above (it looks like a chain).

Insert an internal link - allows you to link to any of the pages on WiserEarth (including the WikiPage that you are creating)

Insert/edit an external link - allows you to link to any external webpages.

Insert an image (from Flickr) - click on Insert 'external image' which is the picture of a tree with white border.

Insert an image from your computer
- click on Insert 'internal image' which is a picture of a tree with a black border.
