Implemented!: Rename AOF Indigenous People to Indigenous Peoples
Problem - what a difference a letter makes! A number of authorities in this area have pointed out that the proper term is Indigenous Peoples.
Solution - Let's rename the area of focus to be INDIGENOUS PEOPLES.
Implementation: MAOF and AOF renamed, AOF wikis editted. See image below:

Change has been implement

@jonramer: I'm in favor of making the change to Indigenous Peoples since its accepted practice at the UN. Let me check on progress on this.

isn 't is actually "Indigenous Communities" ? The term peoples is confusing. Any indigenous group has build a community which collapsed due to "industrial and power civilization" .. when we address these people, we address the community spirit they had in relation to their Indigenous vaule memes .. |
|
@Angus I am not sure if you are for or against making this change. Here is a wikipedia article that touches on the issue. WHere do you stand personally? And how are decisions like this made? |

I think Indigenous People means people who are indigenous and Indigenous Peoples means groups of people (tribes, first nations etc) that are indigenous.

English is indeed a weird language. Is "indigenous people" a singular or plural form? Trying to figure it in French I get this:
People (as plural of person) = "personnes" or "gens" (like in : "people think that ..." = "les gens pensent que ...") People (as singular of peoples) = "peuple" Peoples = "peuples"
So we definitely say "les peuples indigènes" and not "les personnes indigènes".
Hmm, just checked in "Blessed Unrest" ... Paul got it wrong too :)) |

Pretty sure we should be able to do this and do this relatively soon too. :)

|
If this is the correct terminology they we should change it. I'll ask Honore to put it in one of our next releases.

Thanks, Bowo. Angus, is this something you can approve? a number of Indigenous leaders have pointed this out to me.
|
|
Yes. Let's do. How do we go about doing this? Angus?
