Men's Health refers to any issue, condition or determinant that affects the quality of life of men and for which different responses are required in order for men to experience optimal social, emotional, and physical health. The average life-expectancy gap between men and women is shrinking, but on average women still live over 5 years longer than men. Men still drink and smoke more than women, visit the doctor less, engage in risk-taking behavior and have stressful work habits. Often this behavior is a result of cultural stereotypes of ‘manly' behavior. Men's health proponents raise awareness of male lifestyle choices and how they affect health and longevity.
