Sparse Trees and Parklands

Med_sparsetrees In areas where forest turns to nonforest are "parklands" with trees whose canopies shade out about 10 percent of the land. They are common in the boreal regions and seasonally dry tropics. The African wooded savannas are species rich. In other parklands, the species numbers and variety are lower. These areas can be threatened by woodcutting and agricultural conversion.
