Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems is a non-profit education, demonstration, and research organization with over 70 years combined experience in the application of appropriate technologies and sustainable design practices to meet the needs of a broad range of users, from individual home builders to regional planning and natural resource agencies.
The Environmental and Sustainable Construction Association provides nformation on the services, materials and technologies, geared towards high levels of energy efficiency, occupant health and comfort, and environmental performance. |
Featured Resource![]() Green Development: Integrating Ecology and Real Estate describes an exciting new field where environmental considerations are viewed as opportunities to create fundamentally better buildings and communities—less wasteful of land and resources, healthier and more comfortable to occupy, cheaper to run, more productive to work in, and ultimately more profitable to build and operate.

Use less, waste none.
The purpose of WholEarth Development Corporation is to purchase land and save habitat and to use the WholEarth System to build homes and communities with people for the environment.
WholEarth System was designed to simplify the complex nature of sustainability and to find ways prosper as a result.
Housing, water, food, energy and occupation are the five elements that are provided by this planet for the direct benefit of all living things.
Soft green design uses biomimicry, service and flow, and extreme resource productivity so that our species can more easily coexist with all other species well into the future.
The WholEarth System of soft green development can be applied to any form of human habitation.
I'm looking for a paying project that will design and build the WholEarth Home / Building and to demonstrate complete sustainability.
If you can help please contact me. 818-266-3834 |

I would like to propose an amendment to the definition. 'Sustainable' is not just a synonym for 'environment', it is a concept that embraces much wider dimensions and considers conflicts, trade offs, synergies and unifying visions.
If this section were labelled Green Building, and the word Sustainable the above opening paragraph would stand. A definition of Sustainable Building needs to be wider and include e.g. the role and purpose of buildings in developing a society with greater social capital or the scope for design to contribute to healthier population. |

We have an position open at homeWORD, an affordable housing non-profit that builds all of its projects using green building principles. Chris Allen was on the board, so I am visiting his site to see if I can collect interested people in an amazing organization in Missoula Montana that connects sustainability with affordability.

Sustainable green building is the practice of constructing buildings using environmentally responsibly produced materials and techniques that minimize the environmental impact of the building throughout its lifetime. For example, a green building can be built using energy efficient and nontoxic materials and can use renewable power generation to provide electricity for the building.

Sustainable Buildings must have a Power Generator which can be Powered by Solar energy and backed by a LNG heater, with a Battery Bank. I concurr with W. McDonough and in my humble opinion, I agree we have gone astray.
I would like to share with all of you the following article, which proposes a new strategy for changing our current Energy Model. Even using Bio-fuels, although they are renewable, they still generate Green House Gases. The strategy in this article, is fair and equitable, much more than our current Energy Model, for people and nations. It should improve living conditions throughout the world, but it will take time to implement . Please support it and share it along

The fossil fuels used in automobiles must stop. Please see the article on The Perfect Automobile

There is a new article for Production and Deployment of the Perfect Automobile which is about to come out in the next few days. This new article shows our inability to switch all our current automobiles in circulation from Fossil fuels to electricity in less than 10 years, unless there is a collapse in the planet.
