Shrublands
Shrub communities with woody plants, usually adapted to fire, occur in all parts of the earth with about 200 to 1000 mm rainfall. They cover 2.5 million square kilometers on the west side of continents facing cold ocean currents. The vascular plant diversity is high for the amount of land covered. This flora is largely threatened by human activities, invasive plants and insects, and changed fire regimes.
