Certified Timber Harvesting

In an attempt to make the global wood products industry more environmentally friendly, various "green certification" initiatives have begun to monitor tree harvesting and other forestry practices. When considered enviro-friendly, the trees or cut wood receives a green seal, ecolabel or "report card" verifying enviro-friendly practices. The program can be third party, in-house, voluntary or required; address the production methods; or simply certify the product. Forest biodiversity protection may or may not be included.
