Sustainable Livestock Husbandry

Med_cow33 Photo source Sustainable livestock raising is custom-designed to region, has low inputs, maintains or improves soil conditions and forage, balances biodiversity with forage production, custom-designs predator control to minimize impacts on ecosystem, minimizes invasive exotics, shares watering areas with wildlife, and minimizes impacts on stream waterflows and riparian communities. Sustainable ranching takes responsibility for animal welfare during the ranch or farmyard stage as well as during transport, fattening, slaughtering, processing, packaging, wholesaling and retailing. No growth hormones and minimal antibiotics are used in feedlots.

Biodynamic methods make use of special plant, animal and mineral preparations which stimulate and balance vital processes in soil and plants. These methods lead to a natural reduction of pests and diseases in plants and animals, and an increase in the nutritive and health giving value of food produced.
