Mustelids and Viverrids

Mustelids and Viverrids
Weasels, minks, ermines, ferrets, wolverines, badgers, skunks, and otters are examples of mustelids. Mustelids are members of the carnivorous mammal family Mustelidae (about sixty-five species). Civets, genets, mongooses, and fossas are members of the family Viverridae (about seventy species). They biocontrol rodents but may hunt poultry. Civets have been raised or hunted for their musk. Mongooses have become introduced pests. Many have been hunted or raised for their fur. Otters have suffered from habitat destruction, water pollution, pesticides, as well as hunting.
