Female Genital Cutting

Female genital cutting is the practice of removing a portion of the female genitalia in procedures such as the clitoridotomy, clitoridectomy, and infibulation. These procedures have been on girls and young women carried out for generations as part of cultural tradition, particularly in parts of Africa and the Middle East. To those outside these cultures, these practices can be considered to present health risks, to be illegal, and to be an infringement of human rights. Med_yellow
