Logging is the practice of harvesting trees from a woodland or forest for commercial gain. The rate of deforestation, the management practices used, and the legality of the logging, determine the sustainability of the activity and of the possible degradation to the forest environment. In certain forests, access roads have the most significant environmental consequences.
