Fish

Fish are cold-blooded aquatic vertebrates with gills. The three major groups are eels and hagfishes, sharks and rays (cartilaginous fish), and finfish or bony fish such as sturgeons, carp, or Nile Perch catfish. There are about 25,000 species of fish and at least 800 species are threatened. Inland waters and marine ecosystems are their major ecosystems. Many inland waters and their endemic fish species are threatened from habitat loss (dams), introduced species, and the aquarium trade. Med_parrot

Aldabra Marine Programme AMP The Aldabra Marine Programme was established following the discovery of the extensive damage to the coral reef ecosystem at Aldbara Atoll caused by the 1998 Indian Ocean coral-bleaching event. There was growing concern throughout the coral reef scientific community that coral reefs worldwide were being altered at increasing and unprecedented levels due to increasing seawater temperatures. Determining the recovery dynamics of coral reefs altered by natural disturbances is a long-term process. It can be complicated, prolonged, or rendered impossible, in systems already stressed by anthropogenic sources.
