CANIDS
Canids ("canines") are carnivorous and omnivorous members of the family Canidae and include wolves, dogs, foxes, jackals, and coyotes. They have a lithe, muscular, deep-chested body, usually long, slender legs, a bushy tail, slender muzzle, erect ears, and can walk tirelessly on their four front toes and five hind toes. There are thirty-six species and the domesticated dog. About one-third of the canids are vulnerable or threatened from hunting, trapping, and loss of habitat.
