Animal welfare involves a respect for and a commitment to the humane treatment of all nonhuman animals, which includes proper housing, adequate nutrition, disease prevention and treatment, responsible care, and humane handling and can include humane euthanasia when necessary.
Animal rights are those rights that some people consider to be inherent to animals, which should not be violated by humans, such as using animals for testing cosmetic products. Animal welfare organizations focus on laboratories, testing facilities, zoos, movie making, domestic animals (e.g. slaughterhouses, feedlots), and pets, with facilities for injured wildlife.

Save Japan Dolphins Campaign The only way to stop the dolphin slaughter is to keep monitoring, advocating, filming, and bringing attention to it.

Two recent independent veterinary reports on the Canadian seal hunt, as well as IFAW video footage, have documented unacceptable levels of cruelty to baby seals. This hunt is a highly competitive activity, carried out over an extensive area, and under very unpredictable conditions. Haste is the rule, as hunters rush to immobilize as many baby seals as possible in the short time available to them.Seals are routinely clubbed or shot and left to suffer on the ice, before being clubbed again some time thereafter.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know's of a vet or anyone, who would be willing to perform a surgery on a kitten, at no or little cost? He has a foriegn object logged in his intestine, and it would cost over $2,000 in order to perform the procedure. Unfortunately, I'm a full time student, and mother, with no income, other than a grant from school, which isnt a lot. I have two choices; do nothing, and let him die, or somehow scrounge up the money in order to save hs life. If anyone has any advice, can help, or know's someone who could help, please let me know. E-mail me at bridgett.smith@clearwire.net
